Do some research and report on here why the citizens of Egypt are protesting.  Also, find out why this creates a problem for the US.  (Hint:  it deals with our foreign policy with Egypt.)  You need to also state whether or not you agree or disagree with the citizens revolting to create change...why or why not?

The people in Cairo want their leader,
President Hosni Mubarak, to leave office because he's not helping the people at all; he's basically blowing all their money on things he wants. And the only reason why America is doing anything is because gas stocks (like Exxon Mobil) are going down here in the US. The next reason why America's involved is because there are people from the U.S. Embassy in Egypt. And the last of America's worries are the US citizens in Egypt. My opinion is that they should have the right to make they're lives what they want them to be just like any other country. Its really nobody's business but their own.

What is happening in Egypt is that the people want their president Hosni Mubarak to step down from office. The reason for this is that he is stealing from the people, which is violateing their human rights. America is in a bit of a problem here, because now that this whole situation is happening oil prices have gone up, and because Mubarak is in such good relations with America, bringing him down would be bad for us.

The Egyptian people are rioting aginst there president Hosni Mubarak. They are useing the reason that there is proverty and a lack of food in the nation in order to oppose the president. Even though the riots could hurt America the citizens have a right to riot. They are starving and unemployed teh situation goes aginst there basic human rights.

While Nicole does have a point about the Egyptian people beging able to chose there own rights the US should not stay silent. If things esculate there it could have a reounding impact on the world. So it is the united nations bussines to step in there and attempt to help the people better there lives. It is a bad idea to leave it alone.

I agree with Zach, America needs to do something about this. These are people we are talking about, and they have been treated like wild animals.

I disagree with Zachary, because they';ve already tried mass control by shooting and killing or whatever and it hasn't stopped the people so far. Why would Egypt do anything to affect its allies or its enemies in this situation? Yeah, America is supposedly the world police but we're not doing too good a job in our own country so why dig into others? What kind of example does that show? We're not helping Australia at all are we, and they got hit by a cyclone. It's not being selfish, it's just saying what needs to be said.

Apparently Hosni Mubarak is blowing money on personal things instead of things the Egyptian people need like food and getting those people out of poverty. So the Egyptian people are rioting against him so he will stop what he's doing. Which causes a problem for us because now he's raising oil prices as if gas wasn't high enough.

I agree with Zach becacuse its true he is going against their human rights. American needs to be a friend and help straighten their "friend" out.

The citizens of Egypt are protesting because they want their current Executive Chief, Hosni Mubarak, to step down from his position because he isn't doing anything to help them. Hosni Mubarak not stepping down causes a problem for the US too because the US foreign policy wants to end the spread of Islamic extremism but that's not possible if Hosni is still in office. I do agree with the citizens revolting against their government because they're giving the government money and they're not getting in return.

I agree with Matthew because if President Obama asks Hosni to step down from office, then there might be some conflicts between the two nations, which would just make things worst for Egypt.

The Egyptian citizens are protesting because their president, Hosni Mubarak is treating them badly. The unemployment rate is high and there are very low wages for the working class. I agree with the citizens revolting to create change, because im sure they work just as hard as U.S. citizens and they do not get paid enough.

I agree with Nicole, because they should be able to live however they want to and trying to create change could help the Egyptian citizens overcome their problem.

The people of Egypt have continually been growing angry about the government in their country for a number of years because of the corruption that President Hosni Mubarak has allowed. Now, they're anger has been released and riots have taken over Egyptian streets and towns. The US has had a tough time in this new conflict because it is and has been a major ally to Egypt and has also been a top economic friend with Egypt and now they want the government they have been supporting for so long. US officials have accused President Hosni Mubarak of abusing the media by taking over what can and cannot be published to the public and has angered many. I personally don't blame the Egyptian people for being a little pissed off. I mean, their president has basically been using them for his own advantage and is controlling what they can see and hear about him and his government.

I see what Nicole is saying here, but I have to disagree on a couple things here. While yes, the US is kind of nosy when it comes to foreign conflicts, they are usually pretty good at deciding whether or not they should be there. For example, if Egypt's government were to be overthrown and a rebellion begin, a miniature war could result within Egypt and then escalate into an international conflict. Seeing where Egypt is located and the economic flow coming from that area, specifically in oil, prices could spike to unheard of prices and America and other very dependent countries of these resources would be in some major trouble. So I think that if I were in the shoes of our leaders, I might just take some interests in this issue.

People in Egypt are tired of having president Hosni Mubarak in power because he really has been in power for thirty years. Personally I think this is way too long for a president to have power becase things start to fall apart in a country when this happens. The people say they want more freedom because this president has almost become like a dictator. Right now their living conditions are poor and they think Hosni Mubarak is the cause of this.

I agree with Nicole because the Egyptian people should have the right to live the way they choose to, with a president they want. Although I disagree with the fact that America should completly ignore this situation. One of the reasons why is 40% of the world's oil is shipped through Egypt's Suez Canal. If this were to be blocked it could have a negative affect on oil prices in America.

The citizens of Egypt do not want Hosni Mubarak as their leader any more because he is not running the country very well. The poeple dont have jobs and he has taken their money. This is a problem for merica because of the oil. Egypt does not produce much of the oil that goes to America but it has to go threw Suez Canal and this crisis is causing the prices of oil to go up in America. I agree with what the citizens of Egypt are doing, its their right to to want to change whos in power especially when they are not being treated fairly.

I also agree with Matthew in his point that America also does not want to get to invlove because of Egypt and America are in good terms and if Americas asks Mubarak to step down it might put the two in bad terms.

Their government is corrupt, and responsible for widespread poverty. People are finally sick of it. Unfortunately, there is a real opportunity for a radical Islamic movement to replace the current regime with a theocracy, which would be even more oppressive and much worse for the people. It could also cause the middle east to become unstable. I agree with the citizens because as citizens they work to hard not to get paid as well as they should.

Eygpt is protesting against president Hosni Mubarak. They are protesting because the president is more or less jus taking their money and blowing it. It is said that they are unable to find food on the shelves in some places and people have no money. And one of the main reasons it is effecting the US is because Eygpt is one of the main places we get our gas from.
